Fighting off (Corona)viruses: Herbs and Natural Remedies for Support
This text was written at the beginning of the socalled “pandemic” and was adjusted by me now (June 2021). It is based on my older herb school / study materials.
+++ Remedies for support below +++ Remedies for acute symptoms at end of document +++
Sometimes it does make you wonder, how humanity has survived this long … irrational panic didn’t help for sure. Nor does isolating healthy people by shutting down all social gatherings, as that is the core of us as human social beings – and ESSENTIAL to the immune system.
Fear, panic, isolation, uncertainty — weaken the immune system. That is a fact.
What is different about the “novel” Coronavirus? Exactly that – as it is kind of new, we hadn’t built any antibodies yet. Anyone who has travelled before to new and more isolated places knows – you are highly likely to contract the first virus and other stuff around you get in touch with, while the locals don’t. That is because you haven’t built immunity yet.
What is also different about the Coronavirus is – there is no uhm real vaccine and no “official” remedy offered by “modern medicine” in form of pharmaceuticals / chemical drugs. But NATURE has provided us with antiviral remedies for millennia! That is how humanity has survived for a really long time now, in spite of everything … The body always heals itself. Not medication. Your own immune system – always.
So, as someone whose immune system is in constant overdrive, because of a chronic condition “modern medicine” has no cure for, and someone who has studied natural remedies for many years, let me give you some tips on what you can do in face of a new virus, to support your immune system.
Personally, I do think that this in fact is a modified virus, and that it has some unusual properties. I myself had been ill for a couple of days around New Year’s and I had lost my sense of smell and taste completely. It came back – and went again, in part. Many things smell and taste really weird to me. I have also tried to research if there is any real “danger” regarding vaccine shedding – at this point, I am simply not sure. But I will share over the coming days my ideas with you.
1. ANTIVIRAL herbs / plants
More details below – I also wanted to mention these plants first, as you can and should take them when you feel you might have been exposed to a virus. So, take them directly, to help your body fight off stuff that has entered your body right away.
Essential oils with antiviral properties
There are many, many essential oils with antiviral properties. Some of them proven in studies, some used out of experience.
The most commonly used essential oils for viruses are
Eucalyptus, thyme, lavender, tea tree, sage, clove (eugenol), oregano, cinnemon bark / cassia, frankincense.
How to use essential oils:
Inhaling (see below), using externally with another oil such as jojoba, almond, coconut or olive oil (put on wrists, behind ears lobes, under soles of your feet … on your chest). That is about 2 drops essential oil mixed with one table spoon of other oil. You can use up to 2 drops in a tea.
Inhaling diluted essential oils and incence / herbs
Inhaling essential oils and incence is no joke, but gets into your blood stream. I have used fumigating sage a lot for coughs and colds in the past, the smoke gets directly where it needs to go. Essential oils even when used in an aroma lamp and then inhaled when breathing, also go into your blood stream, and can develop their powers.
You can also take a steam bath – pour hot water into a bowl, (you can also put herbs in there, such as chamomille flowers / tea or mint), then use up to 10 drops of essential oil. It will dissolve with the steam of the water. Put a large towel over your head and breathe in. Be careful not to breath over really hot, just boiled water!
Incence – no that is not some esoteric crap, but same as infectuous drops can travel through the air, smoke and essential oils go into the air – with cleaning, antiviral / antimicrobial effects. That is why in olden times, in rooms for bigger assemblies, such as temples and then churches, there was always incence burned. !
In an aroma lamp you can use the essential oils listed above, also mint is great. For burning incence on a piece of small coal (you can buy those for this purpose), frankincense and the abovementions dried herbs are great. Sage is one of the most common used ones. Thyme is wonderful, rosemary, too. Raisins / gums, such as the classic ones as mastix, frankincense, myrrhe, are all a great support for cleansing the air.
Antimicrobial medicinal plants – More see below
- Goldenseal
- Elder
- Yarrow
- Calendula / Marigold
- Chamomille
- Melissa / lemon balm
- Spilanthes
- Rose
2. For the Immune System
In general – you need of course sunlight, healthy organic food which gives you the components necessary to build antibodies and enzymes which are part of your immune system! The less toxins the better, therefore organic. The more vital nutrients the better – therefore whole foods.
Our moods and emotions have a direct relation to our immune system, – stress, social isolation, etc. are extremely bad for the immune system. While when you produce serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, …. you are strengthening your immune system. These neurotransmitters get produced by certain social interactions, but also by exercise and other activities, for example.
Therefore, for your body to be strong enough to fight new, unknown pathogens, you need good sleep, exercise, healthy food providing all nutrients you need to build antibodies, and you also need a normal social life.
There is a general and a specific immune system in your body – the general one is active from birth on (or before). The specific one will only produce antibodies when exposed to the virus (in this case). So, in the long run, most people will come into contact with the Coronavirus, and will then build antibodies. The Coronavirus is spreading rapidly, because this hasn’t happened yet. In China though, there are now more people recovering from the virus, than are currently affected by it, and the spread has slowed considerably therefore. For this reason, it is actually arguable, if it is possible in the first place, and even the best measure, to TRY to contain spread, once it had entered this country. Panic spread and isolation is certainly not helping to stay healthy.
Neither heat nor cold kill the virus, – what brings flu numbers down in summer, e. g. is strengthened immune systems!
A) Strengthen the immune system to fight off pathogens
Herbs for a strong immune system, before affected:
Astragalus, ginseng, tulsi (indian basil), Siberian ginseng, rhodiola rosea (golden root).
Use tea 3 times a day or remedies from health store. Use best, organic quality. This is not the moment to look for cheap bargains, but to look for the best quality you can get.
A LOT of Vitamin C plus Zinc
Vitamin C: from peppers, broccoli, papaya, organges, potatoes, …
In herbs from nettles, pine needles and other conifers, portulac, parsley, dandelion, malve, rose hip, wood sorrel, coriander, thyme, dill, …
Zinc – Kidney beans, Cashew nuts, almonds.
In herbs: chervil, poppy seed, cardomon, thyme, basil, rosemary, ginger, …..
Vitamin D – this is the SUN vitamin. Go out into daylight, if not sun. Go into nature. There are very few natural products you can take, to supplement Vitamin D, such as sun dried mushrooms.
Raw garlic, ginger (the garlic must be raw, because otherwise the most precious compound, the allicin, would be destroyed, the ginger can be cooked).
Also always a good idea – raw vegetables, esp. such as carrots and broccoli, and even beets, e.g. as a juice, as they have proven antimicrobial properties.
B) Immune support when already contracted a pathogen or in direct “danger” – immune stimulating remedies will put your body (immune response) into overdrive, – if you have a condition affecting the (auto) immune response, consult a doctor, please. You take these only for a short time, in acute situations:
Echinacea (sun hats), Ginseng, Siberian Ginseng (eleuthero), Spilanthes, boneset / hemp agrimony, mistletoe. Take as tea 3x/day or ready made remedies from healthstore. You can make your own, but will take a while. Use best, organic quality.
TONICS for the immune system
Tonics are herbal remedies which can be taken daily as a supplement to strengthen the immune system. Drink a tea 3 times a day, or go find a remedy in a health store. You can make tonics yourselves, of course.
- Usnea / Barber‘s Rash
- Rosehip + Pomegranate
- Spilanthes (Acmella oleracea)
- Tragalanth / astragalus
- Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum)
- Marigold flowers (Calendula)
GROWING RIGHT NOW in the Northern hemisphere
– conifers, which deliver more vitamin C than oranges
– nettles and dandelions
– elder flowers
– primrose
– mint
– meadow sweet, yarrow
What to do when you have already contracted a (corona)virus?
Plant remedies see below.
There are also herbal remedies for the symptoms, of course, which you can use to help your immune system. So, you can support your body to heal itself, and to develop antibodies or even immunity (not proven yet, if the latter is possible). This is what humanity has done for a very, very long time, before the emergence of modern medicines of vaccines – without putting name tags on new diseases. Natural remedies can fight very different pathogens, and in a very broad spectrum. This is why herbs, and medicinal plants are so incredible – they have hundreds of different compounds, and those often work synergistically in amazing ways. Eucalyptus for example is antiviral AND helps for coughs. Meadowsweet – the natural blueprint for aspirin – can bring fever down, but is at the same time anti-inflammatory AND reduces pain. And it smells incredible, it is the herb of the Irish-Celtic Goddess Aine.
First Aid For the Virus:
– Raw garlic, ginger, can support your body fighting off the virus
– Some say nano silver, but research for yourselves
– Some mention Lugol’s iodine for different symptoms – I have taken it, and feel it has supported my body just fine.
Cough:
In my own experience, Thyme is one of the most effective herbs for the throat and coughs, as hot tea, and also when used as essential oil.
Most commonly used medicinal herbs for coughs / respitarory tract in general
- primrose
- licorice
- elder flowers
- thyme
- sage
For dry cough (as in Covid-19):
- coughwort / coltsfoot
- marshmallow 🙂
- Licorice
- horsetail
- comfrey
Cough Remedy (after: Elisabeth Brooke)
- 15 g coughwort leaves
- 15 g white horehound leaves
- 15 g comfrey leaves
- 15 g hyssop
- 15 g vervain (verbena)
- 1 piece licorice (root / radix)
Pour 1,75 l boiling water over the mixture and let 30 Min. pass.
Take 1 teaspoon 4 to 5 times a day.
Cough Remedy Nr. 2
- 25 g coughwort leaves
- 25 g fennel
- 10 g fresh ginger (root)
Pour 900 ml boiling water on mixture, let cook (low heat) till only one third of fluid is left.
Add 225 g honey (vegans see below).
Take 3-4 times daily 1 teaspoon.
Vegans, and people who don’t want to use sugar or honey (like myself), can use the remedy without sugar/honey, or sweeten it with Xylitol (antibacterial properties), or stevia, — or cook licorice with it.
For the chest, external:
Raw garlic in oil, or thyme in oil – though it takes minimum two weeks to create that oil.
Instead use 2 drops of essential oil on about 1 tablespoon other oil such as olive, coconut, almond, jojoba. Mix, and then use on chest.
Do not use when allergies in regard to the mentioned substances, or when asthma (consult doctor).
Fever:
Note that a short fever is a normal immune response, helping the body to fight off disease. Even immune supporting herbs such as echinacea might raise the temperature a bit. Only when the fever gets too high, and for a longer period (consult your doctor on this, please), it must be brought down.
Herbel remedies used for fever:
Pennyroyal // Mentha pulegium (as tea)
Meadowsweet (as tea)
Mint and Eucalytus oil (oil as described above)
Gargle
Essential oils are great for this purpose. Some people just use a few drops of essential oils directly in water. But it is better to dissolve them in another substance, such as vinegar, or apple cider vinegar. For example hyssop oil, thyme, sage, fennel, tea tree, lavender.
Tea for Fever
Equal parts mint, yarrow, and elder flowers, half the amount freshly chopped ginger. Bring to boil with water, then let infuse for 20 minutes, covered. Pour through sieve / strain. Take every 3 hourse a small glass, up to 5 days. You can heat it, without boiling.
Tea for Fever Nr. 2
- Pennyroyal // Mentha pulegium leaves
- Meadowsweet leaves and flowers
- Mint leaves
- Thyme
Brew tea. Let infuse minimum 10 minutes, covered. (Covered is important, so the essential oils from the plants go back into the water, and don’t vanish into the air).
Bring a fever down (after Culpeper)
Equal parts elder and coughwort flowers, add some meadowsweet. 25 g flowers on 600 ml water, let cook on small flame for 15 minutes. Take 3 to 5 times daily – 1 table spoon in warm water.
HYGIENE
One of the biggest problems, why diseases have spread in the past, and spread in certain areas of the Earth today, is hygiene.
You contract any coronavirus by direct person to person contact (not sitting opposite of them, but by shaking hands, kissing, and when someone coughes or sneezes into your direction), or by touching a surface the virus is still clinging on. It doesn’t cling on there forever, but for a few hours. Therefore – disinfect your hands, and also surfaces, don’t touch surfaces in public if possible, use hygienic wipes. Essential oils can be used for disinfection purposes, too, as can iodine.
So, someone who goes off panic buying into the supermarket, bringing his own immunce defense down by fear, panic, stress and even fights with other people, and all the while touching shopping carts, products, door handles/knobs, money / pin pads, …. and then not disinfecting the hands, — puts himself at greater risk, instead of getting control over the situation.
Interestingly, where I live, cheap, sugary foods with hardly any nutrients were sold out, while fresh vegetables, and organic wholefoods were fully stocked / untouched. …
Spike Proteins
My own biggest concern at present is by no means a virus, but the spike proteins. The problem is that research hasn’t progressed too far, and especially that the information given or published is contradictory or incomplete, or simply confusing. The huuuuuuuuuuge Pharma PR apparatus with millions of Dollars fueling it, and with all the censorship going on, it is really hard to find reliable information. Especially also(!) with unfounded fears and theories on the other side. It seems to be a rare thing nowadays to find someone with intelligence AND common sense who is able to make sense of it all and to draw the correct conclusions.
My personal thoughts at presents are as follows (yes, only my personal interpretations, so big disclaimer – I know nothing about this and cannot give any medical advice whatsoever, please act at your own descretion):
The socalled “vaccines” don’t contain a virus, neither alive nor dead, what they all do contain though are spike proteins or the instructions to produce them within our bodies. Yes, this is as strange as it sounds. So, a number of doctors worldwide have concluded by now that the most damage when contracting “Covid-19” is not done by the virus but by the spike proteins enveloping the virus. Why? They “cling” with their spikes to our cells, and can cause damage to vessels, tissues and vital organs that way. So, to some people, it seems questionable to inject a socalled vaccine which doesn’t act as a vaccine and doesn’t give immunity but is aimed at the production of spike proteins. Neither the goal of this nor the “technology” or method used to achieve it, have ever been proven in the past. All vaccines are “emergency approved” only, everywhere. For this reason, some people have called the vaccine roll-out “experimental”.
But is there “vaccine shedding” which refers to shedding of the spike proteins, and not of the virus itself? If yes, is the quantity large enough to do any harm? What exactly happens?
This is super unclear at the moment, and as I have said, rational, clear information is hard to come by.
My current personal interpretation is: I think it is possible, I do think though that the quantities are small. Like, really extremely small, as even “vaccinated” people had only tiny amounts of spike proteins afterwards IT SEEMS. In theory, their bodies are supposed to eliminate those, in addition, after a few weeks. If that is really the case – we will see. I also believe that the “transmission” from “vaccinated” to unvaccinated people is more likely (if at all) when in very close contact. It was said that vaccine shedding can occur via breath, skin contact and contact with body fluids, etc. I think that there is reason for concern when someone is constantly, or over a longer period of time in contact with a “vaccined” person, such as, – living together, sharing food/towels/cutlery, etc., sleeping together, kissing, etc. I don’t think that one is in any danger when passing by someone. I am uneasy though when sitting at a table with someone who tells me he had just gotten “the vaccine”.
What to do when you have been in contact with a “vaccined” person?
I personally tend to believe at this moment that there is only reason for concern within the first maybe three to four weeks after “vaccination” and when in really close contact as mentioned above – but I don’t know.
Some people have recommended the following to prevent harm by spike proteins entering the body:
– strengthen your immune system …
– take ivermectin (not available in all countries, and I really don’t with to give recommendations on any ivermectin dosage. For your information only – you can obtain it either ordering for example from Indian pharmacies, or by using products for animals as some do … Please not that it CAN have severe side effects and that especially your liver should be HEALTHY when taking ivermectin).
– take certain mushrooms for the immune system
– Sumarin in form of pine needle tea (or as medication but you will have real difficulty obtaining it and again, side effects can be expected)
– lugol’s iodine
Personally, I didn’t feel as if ivermectin made any difference, and it also doesn’t make sense to me, HOW it would/should. There have been allegedly studies though that had shown in vitro that it contains the virus spread. Ivermectin is an antihelminth, it is given for river blindness which is caused by parasites and also for other parasites such as worms, namely strongyleudes. Those are very different from viruses, … therefore, I don’t know.
I have taken lugol’s iodine and felt better taking it. You must check your thyroids, please, before taking it. I also used what I always use when I feel a cold coming – essential oils, especially thyme and lavender. Externally, see above.
I have made tea out of pine needle teas. Interestingly, my very big herb book doesn’t mention it, and it mentions pines mostly in relation to essential oils. That is a bit strange, but however: even if you wouldn’t get enough sumarin out of pine needle tea, you would still get a nice tea, and also vitamin C. Pine needles have more Vitamin C than oranges, …
How? Collect fresh pine needles (not old ones), and steep them in hot water (pour boiling water over them), let infuse for at least 10 minutes, covered. I recommend a tea half made this way, and half by cooking the needles a bit longer.
Remove the brown ends.
Please make sure you know how pines look like, or rather, make sure that you know how the YEW trea looks like and do NOT take yea trea needles. We aren’t at a point yet where we wish to escape the system by killing ourselves, so stay away from yew. Almost all other conifers are fine to consume. But pines are very easy to identify, just make sure that you learn beforehand what to look for.
Signature Theory
Have you heard of “signature theory”? It means that similar looking / acting things will help you. So, in this case, imagine a round thing with spikes around it … where do you find that in nature?
I didn’t have too many ideas that seemed to be solving our “problem”, to be honest, but what did come to mind was milk thistle. I will write on this more over the coming days, but I think it won’t do any harm to take a milk thistle extract or to make a tea. Thistles are great. Only if you have problems with your liver, please do consult a doctor before using milk thistle.
I also had a vision so to speak of red seeds or berries. I think there are several remedies we can and should try:
– berberis
– pomegranate juice
– cranberries, other berries. Gooseberries can look very spiky, by the way. 😉
Berberis, and especially berberis root bark, and also pomegranate have long been known to fight pathogens, and invaders in our bodies. Make sure not to mix up berberis berries and that they are ripe, in regard to the root bark, don’t take too much. I will write on this, too, over the coming days.
Conclusion
All in all, I believe that our best course of action is to look after ourselves, and use any methods available to strengthen our immune systems and to give our bodies everything they need to produce antibodies. I know that we are stronger than virus and spike proteins alike. But we must remember or own life energy, and look after our well being, and give our bodies what they need. To me, the biggest problem over the past year (soon 1,5 years already …) was the constant FEAR in various forms. That is what makes us weak and vulnerable. So, please, do remember your own roots, and your own strength and also how mother nature has kept us alive as a species over a really long time. This, too, shall pass, even if the outcome of the vaccine campaigns turn out to be bad. Please see my article on the summer solstice – there is light coming now, there is a good side to all of this, and that is that there is much pointing out now the workings of the pharma industry, and just how much money is involved, and where the power lies. It had been know for a very long time, but people kept their eyes closed. This is much less possible now. Still possible, yes, still many unaware, but much more is revealed and coming TO LIGHT.
